Al and Ryan’s outdoor summer wedding at The Wayfarer was our first Whidbey Island wedding video this year and it was such a great one! We’ve never seen an outdoor banquet table setup quite like this one. So cool to have dinner and toasts in the shade under a sprawling canopy of trees. We love working with Kelly and the Whidbey Island Weddings crew and they definitely knocked it out of the park on this one.
Every time I get drone shots on Whidbey I remember what a huge variety of scenic places there are here. We filmed Al and Ryan’s first look on the beach in Langley, and then we headed just down the road to the Wayfarer where we were tucked away in a cozy spot surrounded by trees and rolling hills.
Al and Ryan wrote their own vows, which is of course one of our most favorite things to be able to include in a film. They have a very “21st Century” love story – they met on OK Cupid and after 5 years of adventures together they decided to make it official.
We also love hearing toasts from childhood friends. There’s something really impressive about sticking with your friends for 20+ years and getting to share stories and laughs and drinks together at a wedding celebration.
Another incredible part of this wedding story is that 4 years ago Al’s dad was told he would never walk again, but he promised his daughter that he would walk her down the aisle. The hugs and tears shared between a father and daughter on the wedding day are always special, but this one took it to a whole new level. So amazing. We’re so happy to have met Al and Ryan and it was such a joy to film their amazing Whidbey Island Wedding.
