Changing your tennis overgrip

A step-by-step guide to changing your tennis overgrip

Benefits of an overgrip

  1. It's an easy way to slightly increase your grip size
  2. Customize the feel of your handle
  3. Cheaper to replace than replacement grip

Tools you'll need

  1. Scissors
  2. Pen

Step-by-step

  1. Unroll the grip and remove the plastic.
  2. Most overgrips now come with an adhesive strip at the tip. Remove the backing of the adhesive on the tapered side. You will not find this tapered end or adhesive on a Tourna Grip.
  3. You will want to start the grip at the bottom of the handle and place it on a short bevel, angled upward.
  4. Wrap it around your handle, pulling it as tightly as you like. The tighter you pull, the thinner it will feel.
  5. Continue wrapping up the handle, overlapping about 1 /16th of an inch.
  6. Once at the top of the handle, you will trim the excess overgrip.
  7. Use the finishing tape to hold the overgrip in place.
